The hire is expected to directly assist the Director of Search, the Creative Director and the Content Strategy Expert in managing content strategy, social media, and SEM (paid/organic) efforts on behalf of our clients.

What Will You Do?

Your time will be focused on these activities:

  • 50% Social Media: Community Building, Content Distribution and Media Outreach
  • 25% Search Engine Marketing: SEO
  • 25% Content Strategy: Gifographics (data collection and early conception), user-generated content (UGC), video and more

Social Media Responsibilities

Social media isn't simply a broadcast channel for our clients; this is a way to capture leads and generate sales online.

We use social media as a way to build relationships as well as drive leads and e-commerce for our clients. This isn't your run-of-the-mill community manager position; our clients will lean on your experience to produce a tangible return on investment for all social media activity.

On a daily basis, community management tasks include:

  • Develop short and long-term social media programs for our clients focused on generating leads or e-commerce activity
  • Brief amounts of community management for our client's Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, and Facebook accounts
  • Daily outreach and relationship building with influencers, journalists and media relations for our clients
  • Organize, maintain and grow media relations using BuzzStream

Search Engine Marketing: SEO

Beginner SEO Knowledge:</b> you know enough SEO tactics to be dangerous, understand how search engines rank web pages and have even done some side projects just to see if you could capture some rankings and test your abilities. Basically: you have the knowledge and you're a go getter

Examples of SEO responsibilities and experience sought:

  • Keyword research: you don’t simply pull numbers; you find keywords that have the most opportunity based on a variety of factors and look at other sources than Google’s Keyword Planner for keyword ideas
  • Know about the latest trends: know what co-influence / co-citation is, structured data, knowledge graph optimization and more as they develop
  • Articulate your love / disdain for Matt Cutts in a single Google+ post (bonus points for including an Auto Awesome image)

Content Strategy

We have writers and designers and we're looking for someone to get the writing and designs out into the world. To do that these materials need to be current and relevant. We need someone to identify the best places for our client's content to show up and tell our writers and designers what the content should be about.

Examples of SEO responsibilities and experience sought:

  • Relationship Building: develop partnerships amongst other blogs where our content can be hosted.
  • Innovation: constantly find new ways to make our content interesting. Look at what other blogs are doing. What does their content look like? What are they writing about? What visuals are they using.
  • Strategy: develop execution outlines and timelines for our designers and writers to run with.

Qualifications: Who are you?

  • Data driven! We need folks who are interested in quantitative and qualitative data; reading it, deciphering it and focusing on what to do next, not simply what has already happened in the past.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, SquareSpace and other similar CMS platforms.
  • Bonus: Google Analytics training, Google Ads certification, Google Tag Manager experience
  • Bonus: Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript considered a major plus.

Expectations & Compensation

  • This is a three-month contract-to-hire position. We want both parties to love working with each other at the end of 90 days; if that isn't the case, then we're more than happy to go our separate ways.
  • MKG Marketing to pay for a desk at a shared co-working space with a team in Portland, Oregon or Seattle, Washington offices.
  • If hired full time at the end of 90 days, you'll be eligible for our FTE perks package that includes a personal health record from Zweena Health, $50 in reimbursements for Uber/Lyft/Sidecar rides with proof of work-related receipt as well as $100 in monthly credit to spend on Coursera, Lynda or Amazon Learning courses.
  • New Business Finders Fee: If you bring in new business you better bet your a** we’ll acknowledge your effort with a $1,000 finders fee!
  • Salary negotiated at the conclusion of the contract period.
