By Kerry Guard on October 10, 2018
Congratulations to our Informatica Team - SEO Experts, Christian Bullock and Tammy Wood, our Analytics Expert, Spencer Mayes, and Account Director Jenna Hasenkampf for winning the 2018 BrightEdge Edgie Award for Performance and Results. Thanks to our marketing team at Informatica, Syed Ali and Monique White for their partnership in guidance, trust, and implementation in bringing our recommendations and ultimately Informatica’s business outcomes to life. We can make all the recommendations in the world, but until they are implemented, they are meaningless.
In early 2018 we became a BrightEdge certified agency. It was our goal to aggregate optimization opportunities and results from one place for all our clients. Thanks to our team’s dedication in taking the time to really understand the platform and how to utilize it fully we were able to improve Informatica’s impressions, sessions, and pipeline create.
Here was the submission by Christian Bullock that lead us to winning this award:
MKG Marketing has utilized BrightEdge to drive record-breaking first half 2018 organic search metrics for Informatica, an enterprise cloud data management company. These metrics include session growth, better crawl metrics, more organic search user form fills and increased organic search pipeline create.
Data Cube helped us find keyword targets to drive our on-page SEO strategy. Specifically, looking at search volume, competition and universal listing opportunities has fueled our organic search exposure. Q1 2018 was a record-breaking quarter, producing the highest quarterly organic traffic Informatica has ever generated with +32% Y/Y growth. Q2 2018 broke Q1’s quarterly record. Combined, the first half of 2018 has generated a +23% increase in organic search sessions for Informatica.com.
ContentIQ allowed the team to clean up technical issues. Focusing on fixing severe and moderate issues from this site audit tool has allowed Informatica to have +12% more pages indexed in Google Search looking at the beginning of 2018 to the end of June. More pages included in the index equal more opportunities to rank.
Both of these tactics combined has Google Search Console reporting a +173% increase in organic search impressions from the first half of 2018 vs 2017.
Form fills from organic search users have flourished due to these metrics. Following organic search’s footsteps, Q1 2018 was a record-breaking quarter with +93% more form fills Y/Y. Q2 2018 broke Q1’s quarterly record for this metric as well. Combined, the first half of 2018 has generated a +73% increase in organic search form fills for Informatica.com.
Perhaps most important is how BrightEdge has helped Informatica’s bottom line: organic search pipeline create. The first half of 2018 was a record-breaking period, with the highest first half of the year organic pipeline created ever. This was an 8% increase Y/Y.
We’re excited about these results and utilizing BrightEdge further to push them to even higher record-breaking levels.
To distill that submission down to just the year-over-year organic search comparison results:
- +173% impressions
- +73% conversion actions (form fills)
- +23% sessions

- +8% pipeline value
Our team is super pumped to have won this award! Other companies and agencies that we were able to contend with included McKesson, Merkle, Rogers, IBM and VMware, to name a handful.
